Housing Authority of the City of Frostburg
Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single-family houses to high-rise apartments for elderly families. Approximately 1.2 million households live in public housing units managed by some 3,300 HAs. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administers Federal aid to local housing agencies (HAs) that manage the housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing, and managing these developments.
The Housing Authority of the City of Frostburg, Frostburg, Maryland, was established in 1949 as a HUD Public Housing Authority operating under the federal guidelines of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is chartered under the Annotated Code of Maryland Article 44A. The Meshach Frost Village community comprises 100 units: 25 Studio apartments, 37 one-bedroom apartments, 20 two-bedroom apartments, 14 three-bedroom apartments, and 4 four-bedroom apartments.
Mission
The Frostburg Housing Authority strives to offer decent, safe and affordable housing solutions and supportive services for low-income families, seniors, and those with disabilities, and to provide a suitable living environment free from discrimination so they can become self-sufficient and productive residents of the community.
